Yasse Tabuchi
8 April - 21 May 2006
Yasse TABUCHI (Tabuchi Yasukazu, 1921- ) has been living in France since 1951 and continues to create paintings full of sensuality and colour. Before he left for France, he had already taken part in avant-garde artist's society and had been one of the promising figures. For the first few years of his stay in France, rather than to paint, he had preferred to explore the origins of occidental culture through numerous voyages and witnessing the primal images in medieval and antique relics. It had also been an voyage of self reflection. He had then settled down in Paris and started to working on oil paintings. He had made acquaintances with Asger JORN and Pierre ALECHINSKY of the COBRA group and with numerous European movements, but his style deepened of its own accord passing through several stages of evolution. Having exhibited in France, Denmark, Belgium and other European countries as well as Japan, his fame is now world-wide. His career is filled with light emitted from the depth of his paintings.
This exhibition is his retrospect covering his early periods in France till today. Visitors are welcome to savour the 90 paintings in order to understand the entirety and the true value of this internationally acclaimed painter.
