The Ancient City of Kamakura and Modern Art /
New Acquisitions 2011

June 23 – September 9, 2012

The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura opened in 1951 as the first public modern museum in Japan. It has been deeply involved with and supported by the locality of Kamakura and the plentiful culturati living there. This exhibition features artists and works affiliated to Kamakura from our own museum collection. There are also works by artists such as Georges Roualt, UEMURA Shoko, and SUNAZAWA Bikky, which entered our collection in the fiscal year of 2011. FUJITA Tsuguharu’s “Kiki de Montparnasse”, which has been added as The Kitagawara Collection, is being shown for the first time.
