European Prints from Brueghel to Picasso
With a Special Exhibition of Gisèle Celan-Lestrange

September 14 - December 1, 2013



The history of Western prints will be traced through examples from the museum collection. Including the works by Pieter Brueghel, who was active in Flanders in the 16th century, the Spanish artist Goya, who was active from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, the British poet and artist William Blake, and 20th century artists such as Picasso and Friedlander. There is also a special exhibition of the subtle copperplate prints by Gisèle Celan-Lestrange (1927-1991), who was the wife of Paul Celan and was active in Paris after the war.
