YOROZU Tetsugoro 1885-1927

July 1 - September 3, 2017

The daring expressions by YOROZU Tetsugoro (b. 1885 Tsuchizawa, Iwate - d. 1927 Chigasaki, Kanagawa) stood out prominently among the individualistic artists of the Taisho period. In addition to representative oil paintings such as Nude Beauty, Leaning Woman, and Self-portrait, this exhibition also focuses on his ink paintings, which have not been featured so much before.
It is twenty years since a major retrospective of Yorozu's works has been held. The changes of his artistic styles and expressions and the relativity of his works to other oil paintings of the time are considered through altogether 300 or so works.
