Jikken Kōbō―Experimental Workshop

January 12 – March 24, 2013

Jikken Kobo[Experimental Workshop] was founded in 1951 by a group of young artists who gathered regardless of genre. There were artists such as YAMAGUCHI Katsuhiro, KITADAI Shozo, and FUKUSHIMA Hideko and musicians such as TAKEMITSU Toru and YUASA Joji. In recent years, Jikken Kobo is being re-evaluated in and outside of Japan as a group that brought forth a new era in postwar art. The entirety of the group is presented through approximately 400 works and reference materials including paintings, objects, videos, photographs, musical scores, and programs based on the latest studies. In order to re-examine their diverse activities such as films and performing arts, lectures and events will be given by experts of the respective fields.
