There are two paintings referred to as "Portrait of NISHI Amane" by TAKAHASHI Yuichi(1828-1894), one of which has recently been brilliantly restored.
To commemorate the revitalization of this portrait, the two works will be displayed together.
By comparing the two, we hope to be able to close in on the mystery of modern Japanese art.
The development of modern "yoga"[Western-style painting] is introduced through a fine new acquisition, "Lying Nude" by FUJITA Tsuguharu(1886-1968), and other examples from the museum collection such as "Young Girl(Reiko Standing)"by KISHIDA Ryusei.
