Kamakura Buildings Reopen

The main building (KAMAKURA) and the Annex (KAMAKURA ANNEX) of The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura & Hayama are closed until November 14, 2003 for the preparation of their reopening.

The Museum of Modern Art, Kamakura was established in 1951 as Japan’s first public museum focusing on modern art. The main building, located beside Heike Pond in the precincts of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura city, is famous as a masterpiece of modern architecture. And the Annex was built 350 meters away from the main building in 1984.

On November 15, 2003, KAMAKURA and KAMAKURA ANNEX will reopen with the exhibitions, “The World of Masakazu Horiuti, Sculptor” and “Contemporary Prints in Japan,” respectively.
