HORIUTI Masakazu : Curious Minds, Joyful Forms

About the Exhibition

HORIUTI Masakazu (1911-2001), a sculptor of postwar Japan, created works inspired by commonplace forms such as parts of the body or geometrical figures.
IKOZON, the title of a series of Horiuti's sculptures, comes from the Japanese word nozoki(peek) read back-to-front and is completed by having the viewer peek into the works. We cannot but smile at these works and others full of unique erosand wit. So that you can familiarize yourself more with abstract sculpture, which tends to be considered difficult to understand, in this exhibition, together with the finished works, unpublished sketches and memos done in the process of production, etc. are introduced to reexamine the artist HoriutiMasakazu and his works.
