From our collection of paintings and sculptures, with light as the theme, displayed here are works dating from the 1960s onwards by artists such as Jiro Takamatsu, Yoko Matsumoto, Machiko Ogawa, Aiko Miyawaki, Chuta Kimura, Yoshio Aoyama and others. In the gallery facing Isshiki Beach, the window will be uncovered to feature works by Shinpei Sakakura (1934-2004).

Shunsuke Matsumoto
The Origin of His Creativity

Shunsuke Matsumoto (1912-1948), one of the leading artists of Japanese modern art. Early on in his career, he devoted himself to works by Rouault, Modigliani, Grosz, Fujita, and others. In this exhibition, we shall examine what Matsumoto absorbed from such works and how he developed them into his own expressions in search of the origin of his creativity.
