Lecturer
Kure Motoyuki is born in Kobe, Japan in 1976. He holds Ph.D. in Arts and Sciences from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tokyo. After working for a newspaper company, he was engaged in curatorial work on Chinese paintings at the Kyoto National Museum in 2009-21. Since 2021, he is an associate professor at the Institute for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University. He specializes in the history of Chinese painting, including modern and contemporary works. His major co-edited publications include Illustrated Catalogue of the Suma Collection of Kyoto National Museum: Qi Baishi (2019). Major exhibitions he has curated include “Modern Chinese Paintings and Japan” (2012) and “National Treasures” (2017), among others.
